Action: Special use permit for a “Boardinghouse”

Description of Proposed Action:

The action involves an application to the Copake Zoning Board of Appeals for a special use permit to use an existing single-family residential structure in the vicinity of Upper Rhoda Pond in the Town of Copake as a “boardinghouse” (as the term is used in the Copake Zoning Code) for up to twelve short-term occupants. The owners propose to list the availability of the house on online services such as AirBnB and VRBO, and to rent the house out to groups for various periods of time, with rentals by the week likely to be typical.

The Zoning Board of the Town of Copake, Columbia County, as lead agency, has accepted a Final Environmental Impact Statement on an application by Alon and Deanna Ben-Meir for a special use permit for a “Boardinghouse” for up to twelve short-term occupants proposed to be located at 2103 County Route 7A, Town of Copake.
