NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Copake Fire District are holding a special election on February 18, 2020 between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M. at the Copake Fire District Firehouse located at 390 County Route 7A, Copake, NY 12516 for the purpose of voting on whether to approve the Resolution passed by the Board of Fire Commissioners at its regularly scheduled meeting on January 14, 2020 to purchase a new pickup truck and refurbishing and re-purposing the 1996 pickup and the 2005 support vehicle.

IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Board of Fire Commissioner’s that they wish to purchase a 2020 ¾ ton four-wheel drive crew cab pickup with utility/work body and refurbish and re-purpose the 1996 fire utility vehicle and refurbish and re-purpose the 2005 support vehicle replacing the current 2008 support vehicle in poor repair.

WHEREAS it will be necessary to borrow $90,000.00 to be used toward the purchase of the aforementioned vehicle and the refurbishing and re-purposing of the 1996 pickup and 2005 support vehicle that it will be necessary to issue a bond and/or serial bond at the prevailing rate of interest to purchase said vehicle. Said authorization to issue a bond and/or serial bond or statutory installment bond is subject to a mandatory referendum to be conducted on the 18 day of February, 2020.

WHEREAS the Board of Fire Commissioners heretofore will establish a Capital Reserve Fund from which they propose to spend $90,000.00 toward the purchase and refurbishment of said vehicles.

All voters registered with the Columbia County Board of Elections on or
before January 18^th and who are residents of the Fire District for 30 days preceding the referendum shall be eligible to vote.
