Public Notice for Applications for Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer

Town of Copake seeks a “Building Inspector-Code Enforcement Officer”. The Town Building Department/Code Enforcement Office is responsible for issuing building permits, certificates of occupancy, and for enforcing Copake’s Zoning and Land Use Laws. Position requires reviewing building and construction plans and visiting construction sites. This dual position also entails being pro-active in enforcing the Copake Code. Candidates must either have knowledge of the Town of Copake’s Zoning Codes and NYS Building Standards and Codes or be prepared to learn same. NYS certification is a plus but not required. An uncertified applicant must be prepared to seek and attain NYS certification. The Town will work with the right applicant to meet State standards. Required: computer skills and willingness to learn software; valid driver’s license and willingness to use fully insured personal vehicle for site visits. Town will pay mileage. Good communication skills and ability to communicate with contractors, residents and Town Board members is a plus. The Position is part-time, requiring both office hours and site visits.
